I’ve written before about the stellar career of Broadway maven Nancy Opel. Fresh out of Julliard, she was cast in the ensemble of Evita, and eventually went on as Eva. She was also in the original cast of Sunday in the Park with George, was nominated for a Tony for Urinetown (pictured), and has been a leading player in many world premeires of playwright David Ives’ works.
As busy as she is, she even took the time to send me a very kind email after I originally “spotlighted” her at Man In Chair.
She’s now about to launch into her first-ever national tour as the title character in The Drowsy Chaperone and she sat down with Broadway.com to talk about it.
Says Nancy “I am scared, yes indeedy, but it will be fun to explore places like Chicago, Texas, and Toronto. And I figure I’ll just take a couple of plastic bags worth of clothes and buy something new in every city. It’s going to be a fascinating year.”
