EquusAccording to an interview with MTV News, Broadway audiences will have to wait a little longer to see Thea Sharrock’s production of Equus starring Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths. As originally reported in Playbill.com, it was thought that the show would tranfer to Broadway in the Spring of 2008, but, straight from the…err…horse’s mouth we find that the production will be mounted closer to the end of 2008. Says Radcliffe:

“There’s an internet frenzy of people who think it’s happening in the spring, but it would be six months later than that. In all probability, if everything goes according to plan, it would definitely be me and Richard Griffiths and how many other cast members the unions will allow.”

“I’m excited. Terrified, but excited.”

The show received good to glowing reviews in its limited run last summer at the Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End. In my opinion way too much hype centered around the nudity in the show, but a publicist’s gotta do what a publicist’s gotta do, I guess.

Supposedly, a 12-week UK tour of the show was to have begun in Bath on August 28, starring British soap star Richard Fleeshman. I have scoured the internet trying to find any information about the tour and have come up with zilch. Only stories saying it’s going to happen, but no place to buy tickets or see a tour schedule or read reviews. In this age of instant information about anything, it makes me wonder if the tour never came to fruition. Anyone reader out there know anything more about it than Google does?

We have already seen evidence of Radcliffe’s and Griffiths’ chemistry in the relationship, or lack thereof, between Harry and his Uncle Vernon in the Harry Potter films. But whether or not Brits will see Mr. Fleeshman as the disturbed horse lover/killer, we in the States will have to wait until winter (much to our discontent) to experience the work of this talented young actor, and seasoned veteran in Peter Shaffer’s brilliant and disturbing work.

Are tickets available yet for Equus on Broadway?? If not, is there any idea when they will go on sale?

When are tickets coming out? I heard that the opening night was going to be September 25th or somewhere around there. How long before a show do tickets usually come out?

This is Clint, and our theater group is helping people get tickets to see EQUUS on Broadway. You can either go to our website at www.roclith.com/bus_tours.htm or our MySpace page at www.myspace.com/showticket. Our seats were reserved way back before April 2008, and we have excellent Orchestra seats. In all, 75 people will be joining us to see EQUUS on Saturday, December 6th, 2008 for the 2:00 PM Matinee. Hope you can join us!
